Uganda's First Children's Discovery Museum

Play First Africa is a social enterprise that promotes high-quality learning during the first five years of a child’s life through play, set on three acres in Gayaza, located just outside Kampala, Uganda.

The first five years of a child’s life is the most crucial time for brain development. If the development of a child’s fundamental skills and abilities are impaired from the start it can grossly affect the child’s learning potential in the future and the damage may even last a lifetime.

Research shows that children learn best and able to develop higher-level skills through play. Through play children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments. These are all significant skills, necessary to build a strong foundation to guarantee academic and life success.

Play First Africa highlights the importance of early childhood development and play through our Discovery Museum and Early Childhood Development Training Center, that features unique play spaces and a range of programs and services that reach children, families, educators, and community members and their needs.

Play First Africa is Uganda’s first children’s Discovery Museum and Early Childhood Development Training Center, providing a variety of hands on learning opportunities allowing children, families, and educators to explore and learn through play. Our space, exhibits, and programs stimulate informal learning experiences for children, their families, and educators. We serve to function as a community space for children, their families, and educators to explore, develop, socialize, and connect and promote early childhood development. Play First Africa offers a variety of services and experiences for children, their families, and educators.
